About NFRC Certified & ENERGY STAR® Doors
To qualify for the 2009-2010 Tax Credit, it is not enough to have an ENERGY STAR® Door Slab - you must have a prehung unit assembled by an NFRC Certified facility - like Lumber Products! Before you buy, make sure to ask for qualifying NFRC prehung door assemblies. NFRC is a non-profit organization that administers the independent rating and labeling system for the energy performance of doors. They reliable energy performance ratings. ENERGY STAR® is a government-backed program that helps consumers identify energy efficient products.

Tax Credit Eligibility

In February 2009, President Obama signed the American Recovery Act of 2009 which increased the dollar amount to the energy efficiency tax credit of 2007.

When you update a home’s existing Exterior Door unit now through 2010 with a NFRC Certified ENERGY STAR® Masonite Door you are eligible for a tax credit of 30% - or - up to $1,500 of the cost of the certified product.

The tax credit applies to existing homes only and must be the taxpayer’s primary residence and does not apply to installation costs. Before you make your purchase, be sure both the NFRC and ENERGY STAR® Label are present in order to qualify.

  • Purchase and install a ENERGY STAR® qualified
  • Masonite Door from 1/1/09 through 12/31/10.
  • Save the sales receipt and the NFRC and ENERGY STAR® label.
  • Include the table indicating Masonite’s eligible doors and sidelites.
  • Include the manufacturer certification statement.
  • Submit this information along with your 2009 or 2010 federal tax return.
