Many of our products are environmentally sound based on the fact that they are manufactured from recycled materials. These products include particle board and MDF based products, as well as Homasote panels and other composite products.
Other products meet the Composite Panel Association’s EPP (Environmentally Preferred Product) Specification 03-08. The KCMA (Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association) uses this standard as one of the criteria required for manufacturer’s to be ESP (Environmental Stewardship Program) certified through that association. The standard was provided to assure that conforming products have been independently certified to meet certain, preferable characteristics.
Lumber Products has maintained a long-term relationship with Columbia Forest Products (CFP), an industry leader in innovative environmental product manufacturing. All the CFP Hardwood Plywood inventoried at LP is manufactured with Pure Bond glue. This glue is soy based, so that there is no added formaldehyde in the manufacture of the panel. Again, this positively impacts indoor air quality. The statement below is from the CFP Web site:
Lumber Products also works closely with Roseburg Forest Products (RFP), offering many products that are manufactured within the guidelines of Scientific Certification Programs (SCS). LP provides these products as raw material, and in melamine panels. Roseburg also offers products with FSC certification. The following statement is from the RFP web site:
Roseburg produces several plywood and lumber products that have been environmentally certified by one of the worlds most accepted third-party certification organizations, FSC (Forest Stewardship Council). FSC is an independent, not-for-profit organization with a diverse membership representing environmental, business, and social interests globally. SmartWood, the primary certifying organization for FSC, has evaluated and certified that Roseburg's forestry operations meet international environmental standards through appropriate conservation of the forest's economic resources.
Additionally, Roseburg has Scientific Certification Systems (SCS), a neutral third-party environmental testing and certification organization, audit our particle board manufacturing process. SkyBlend™, UltraBlend™ and Roseburg Pine particle board are certified by SCS. Results such as this not only confirm our commitment to conserving natural resources, but they also affirm that Roseburg is a very efficient producer of wood products.
Lumber Products stocks Arries™ Sustainable Design Fiberboard (SDF) manufactured by SierraPine, which meets a market need for environmental products, and is also available as an FSC product!
Lumber Products also provides CertainTeed insulation products. Fiberglass batts and rolls are GreenGuard certified for indoor air quality.
A number of our suppliers offer us wood products sourced from certified forests under SFI (Sustainable Forestry initiative), PEFC (Pan European Forestry Certification) , or ATF (American Tree Farm) certification systems.
